I have officially paid for the space for the launch party for our Sisters in Crime anthology, Carolina Crimes: Rock & Roll & Ruin. It will be at the local independent bookstore, Fiction Addiction, in Greenville, SC on October 8 from 2:00 to 4:00.
I’m still planning the nitty-gritty of the party, like how large a cake to order, how many drinks to bring, & how many plates & napkins we’ll need. I’m toying with the idea of a book-related scavenger hunt, but I may table that idea & just have a couple of give-aways instead, with anthology-related swag like a coffee mug featuring the lovely cover image or maybe some ink pens. It’s going to be a little pricy to host, but this way we’ll get publicity in both North and South Carolina (the North Carolina party is the following weekend).
I’ve got to write up a good press release and have that ready to email out to the local media. Then, I have to decide how many copies of the book I’ll need to order. The bookstore will sell them on consignment, but if they don’t sell, they’re mine, so I don’t want a whole bunch of extra copies lying around! I can probably count on my pals and critique group to purchase a few, but I have no idea how much of a crowd we’ll draw from the rest of the public, so …
I’m currently perusing the internet for party ideas, so if you have any thoughts, drop a comment!
