My local writing group has reassured me that I am not a terrible writer. In fact, they liked my last chapter so much that I didn’t get a whole lot of corrections or questions on it. That cheered me up a bit, I must say.
Of course, this doesn’t mean I can rest on my laurels. I still have to re-evaluate the novel and see if there’s anything I can do to improve it. I need to look for excess “I” sentences, too, and make sure to vary the beginnings so it doesn’t read like a travelogue.
I have not (yet) heard back from the rest of my short stories (2 anthologies and 1 magazine) but I keep checking the email… Wonder how long it takes them to judge (and how many entries they actually got!).
I will keep you posted on progress and update the blog once I hear back from anyone.
Another compulsive email checker! Personally, I have sunk to where I send myself TEST messages, if I don’t get a rejection letter often enough. Gotta be sure the servers are working, right? Happy IWSG day.
