A writing pal of mine suggested I submit the historical fiction novels to the UK publisher who handles his books. I’ve sent in a query letter and we’ll see what they say in a week or two. I’d have let my agent handle it, but she said I could do it, which either means she’s no longer interested in representing me or she’s just not comfortable dealing with an overseas publisher.
On the sci-fi side of things, I’ve completed the mystery story for “Rock & Roll & Ruin,” due in April, and am about halfway through with the one for “Triangulations: Habitats.” I’m starting on a new story for the state writing association, too. That’s only 1,000 words and is on the theme of “Isolation,” so it’s perfect for a short velyr tale. After that, I’m looking at “It Gets Even Better,” which is a queer-friendly anthology looking at the state of the LBGQT culture. The limit is 15,000 words, so I can really dig in and create a nice little novella.
My only worry about the historical fiction stories is that I might not have the time to do marketing, etc. on both historical and science fiction simultaneously! I need a time-turner evidently.
