Have a new anthology or two we’re trying to get into. One’s a weird history detective story that will feature Badi, our favorite velyr PI. I like his sarcastic noir attitude and am setting the story in 1800s Savannah so it’ll fit in with the anthology’s guidelines (they don’t want anything after the turn of the century). I’m sort of collaborating with my alter-ego JES Hays, who’s putting in the historical detail to my weird aliens and maybe even steampunk elements.
I’m also editing a story for an anthology about “What gender will be like in 50 years” and finishing one about “Navigating the ruins” which features a velyr coming to terms with the loss of his relationships during the Exile. That last is a sad one, so it’s taking me more time to finish. There are also a couple of magazines I’m looking at, with longer deadlines so I can take more time to decide if I want to submit anything to them.
