It’s First Wednesday, so its time for another Insecure Writer’s Support Group post!

April 2 question – What fantasy character would you like to fight, go on a quest with, or have a beer/glass of wine with?
I’m not a fighter at all, so I’ll sit down at a nice, quiet inn somewhere in Middle Earth and have a glass of wine with Frodo, Samwise, Merry, and Pippin. I think I’d have a lot in common with hobbits. We all love good food and drink, good stories, and a good party. Of course, I can’t single out just one hobbit for that wine, as they come in somewhat of a packaged set.
I love reading about epic adventures such as the ones Tolkien dreamed up, but if I ever had to actually live one, I’m not sure I’d survive! I’m old and fat and very set in my ways, so it would take a lot to get me out of my cozy little home and out on The Road Which Goes Ever On. And while it would be awe-inspiring to see somewhere like Rivendell, I feel I would be either intimidated or irritated by the elves, depending on their attitudes. I have a feeling elves consider themselves to be just a cut above the rest of the Middle Earth’s inhabitants, what with their superior lifespans and senses. I’d probably be more like Gimli and be grumpy about it.
What about you—which fantasy character is your favorite? And would you actually fight them or go on a quest in real life?
