This is a great little debut novel by writer Alix E. Harrow. It’s more of a fantasy rather than sci-fi, but I enjoyed reading it and hope the author keeps writing.
January Scaller is a young girl raised in a huge old mansion by a rich old collector. At times, she feels like just another one of his collections. Then, she discovers a Door and walks through to another world.
January’s life as she knows it is over, and she begins learning her own place in the world — and that nearly everything she’s believed up to this point is false.
If you like tales of world-spanning love, blossoming talent, and powerful villains, you’ll like this book too.
