Here’s a snippet from Chapter 26 (at the moment – numbers may change as I edit):
Lontano wove through the crowd, heedless of toes beneath his shoes or elbows in his face. He got to the corner and spotted Tell’s ginger mop just ahead. Tell’s left arm was draped around the waist of a statuesque woman in a gray pin-striped business suit. His right arm was looped through the arm of a similarly-dressed man.
“Tell!” Lontano shouted, shoving forward.
Tell’s head whipped around. He scanned the crowd but his eyes were unfocused. “Tano?”
His male companion tightened his hold on Tell’s arm and yanked him forward.
“Wait.” Tell’s voice didn’t penetrate the noisy crowd, but Lontano saw his lips move. What the hell was happening?
Before Lontano could reach them, the two humans shoved Tell into the open back door of a waiting sedan. Lontano pushed at the crowd between, shouted for them to make way. The tall female darted around to the street side of the car. She slid in beside Tell, trapping him between her and the man, who hopped in as soon as Tell was inside.
Lontano got to the car just as it pulled away from the curb.
He grabbed at the door handle, managed to catch hold. The door was locked. He set his feet and hauled, ready to rip the door off the car if needed. He caught sight of the man in the back seat, his face twisted with hatred.
“Go,” the man mouthed, slapping a hand against the back of the driver’s seat.
The car sped up, yanking Lontano off balance. He couldn’t let go. Tell was inside.
They had Tell.
