I don’t just read sci-fi and fantasy. I also love a good mystery story. This year I’m reading a new (to me) series about the chief inspector of the Quebec homicide division. His name is Inspector Gamache and I’m enjoying his stories very much. The author is Louise Penny and I think there are around 20 books in the series (so far).
Part of what I like is the tiny village of Three Pines in which each of the stories thus far has been set. It’s like one of Agatha Christie’s old English villages, with quirky characters and old houses and village traditions that make little sense to outsiders. I’m also learning a good bit about Quebec and their culture, which I admit I haven’t really known about before.
I also like reading other stories. Heck, I’ll read a cereal box if I don’t have anything else at hand. Historical fiction is another of my interests, as well as Westerns. Let me know if you have a favorite author in any of the categories I enjoy, and I’ll check them out!
