I’m trying a fantasy/sci-fi book from another culture this week. The Mermaid, The Witch, & The Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall. I’m just beginning the book so I can’t say how it reads yet, but it comes highly recommended as a “spooky October read.” It’s about a girl who cross-dresses so she can become part of a pirate crew. Then she falls in love with a Lady on the way to an arranged marriage that she is dreading. To quote: “the unlikely pair set in motion a wild escape that will free a captured mermaid (coveted for her blood) and involve the mysterious Pirate Supreme, an opportunistic witch, double agents, and the all-encompassing Sea herself.”
I’ll edit this post once I’m finished and let you know how it is!
