This is a murder mystery by Gretta Mulrooney and I enjoyed reading it. It’s one of a series and I haven’t read the others, but I may pick them up on my Kindle now that I know I like the hero. I picked this one because it’s set in Wales and a friend who’d lived there said the book really got the countryside right. I like reading about far-away lands and people, so I grabbed this one and started in.
The hero of this series is a retired police officer who’s opened a private detective agency. I’m not certain if the series starts with him as a PI or if they work through the reasons for his retirement. I’ll let you know when I read more of the books. In this one, he’s off to Wales to visit an old friend he hasn’t seen in years. Only he arrives to find his friend murdered and everyone in the commune where he lived is a suspect. With the local DI in the hospital with a broken arm and injured leg, our hero must solve the crime with minimal police assistance, which he does quite nicely. If you like mysteries, you should try this out. If you like Wales, ditto.
