OK, this is more a rom-com than science fiction, but it was a cute movie so I’ll review it.
Mark Ruffalo plays a landscape architect who finds the perfect San Francisco apartment–only to discover the spirit of the previous owner is still there. And, of course, he’s the only one who can see her. Reese Witherspoon plays said apartment owner, an ER physician who was driving after a grueling 24-hour shift & drifted into the wrong lane. Now she doesn’t remember what happened or who she really was in life.
The two are immediately at odds. Mark wants the apartment to himself, while Reese wants the “squatter” out ASAP. Finally, he agrees to try to figure out what happened to her if she will agree to leave once he’s solved the mystery. They spend the rest of the movie trying to trace her last day (and, since it is a rom-com, falling for one another). I wouldn’t say this was a world-changing film, but as rom-coms go, it’s fun. I always like a touch of the supernatural in a movie, and they do this one fairly well.
If you’re into this sort of story, check the movie out. Got any recommendations for my next flick?
