Time for another Insecure Writer’s Support Group Post!
February 1 question – If you are an Indie author, do you make your own covers or purchase them? If you publish trad, how much input do you have about what goes on your cover?
I’m pretty much traditionally published, but with small presses. My publisher ran the cover idea past me to see if I liked it, but I’m not certain how much say I would have had if I’d hated it. Fortunately, their artist got my idea right off the bat from sample images I’d sent them (at their request), and I liked the cover a lot. With anthologies, of course, there is no say in cover design by individual authors, but I have approved of all of the covers I’ve seen so far.
