July 5 question – 99% of my story ideas come from dreams. Where do yours predominantly come from?
I do occasionally have a dream that leads directly to a story, but most of my ideas come from paying attention to the world around me. I read a lot, and I always find something new that sparks something in a story. I also like to surf the internet, reading and watching scientific information and science fiction stories, and these often inspire something that shows up in a story later. And, of course, when things happen in my life, there are almost always questions, which can lead to a story idea.
In short, almost anything can spur me to write a story. Although I do have some crazy dreams sometimes. What about you – do you get ideas from dreams?
